Message from the Bishop

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

“Come to me, all you that are weary and carrying heavy burdens and I will give you rest” (Mt. 11:28).

Our Catholic cemeteries are a place of rest.  They remind us that after the labours of life, our faithful departed are now experiencing eternal rest with God.

Catholic cemeteries also provide rest for the living, especially those who carry the burden of grief. As sacred space dedicated to prayer and eternal life, consolation can be found.

I encourage you to choose one of the Catholic ceme- teries in the Diocese of St. Catharines as your final resting place. Here you will find the church praying for and remembering our beloved dead surrounded by beauty and symbols of our faith. Here you will find hope knowing death is not the end but a means to eternal life!

“Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them”.

Faithfully Yours In Christ,

(Most Rev.) Gerard Bergie, Bishop of St. Catharines
